Learning about "methods" in scientific inquiry, NPN style...

You gotta love it,

The primary focus of this particular MAMDRP gathering date was to look at the scientific inquiry process and to deliver it in a way that was applicable for students to learn.  Each of the divided MAMDRP groups were required to come up with clear "methods" on how to create a recipe step by step for "Frogs on a Log" an all time easy-to-do favorite with celery, peanut butter and raisins.

Each of the groups got together and wrote out the methods to their recipe.  At the ending of the activity, the alaka'i one by one, read each of the group's recipes and were assigned to "recreate" the "Frogs on a Log" based on the methods provided.  The alaka'i were to act as though they were aliens, and needed to recreate the recipe exactly as instructed, versus doing it as they "know" how it's to be done.  The ending results for each of the groups were hilarious, but in a fun way students learned that in research, the "methods" portion to every study needs to be clear and replicable.
